Airbag is a Norwegian rock band from Oslo, Norway. Their music can best be described as melodic neo-progressive rock, with clear influences from bands such as Pink Floyd. Since its inception in 2004, the band has released two full-length studio albums, Identity (2009) and All Rights Removed (2011), in addition to several EPs. The band is currently working on a third album.
History:
The band was formed in Oslo in 2004 by five classmates, who had already played together on several earlier projects. The same year, the band released their first EP, Come On In, followed by Sounds That I Hear (2006) and Safetree (2008). These were offered for free on the band's website, and achieved over 230 000 downloads within the first few months of availability. This exposure got the band signed with Norwegian label Karisma Records in early 2009.
The band first achieved success with their debut album, Identity, released in 2009 and featuring remixed versions of tracks from their previously released EPs. The single Colours peaked at 3rd place on Polish radio in early 2011. Their second album saw the band move towards longer, more epic pieces with All Rights Removed in 2011.
