Born Alton Watkins in 1949 Wilmington, North Carolina. First sang publicly at the age of eight at a square dance held in Castle Hayne, North Carolina. He sang with the original well known regional rock band "The Sounds of Time" while in high school(1965 - 1968) which also featured Jimmy Waldo (New England, Quite Riot, & Alcatrazz keyboardist) He has opened shows with legends like Fats Domino, Louisiana Leroux, Black Oak Arkansas, The Drifters, The Band of Oz, Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs, Percy Sledge, Bo Diddley, Various East Coast Beach Music Singers and groups. In addition he did the same for many top country music artist as well like, Marty Robbins, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, the Kendalls, George Jones, Gene Watson, Laverne Tripp, Doug Oldham, Brian Free, and other well known artists. Watkins also appeared as a presenter on the 2002 CCM Awards Show with Dottie Rambo, Hank Williams Jr., Ronnie McDowell, Del Way, Stella Parton and others. He has published recordings over the years in several different genres.
