Meet Angus Gill, the dynamic, determined and dedicated musical showstopper.
At just 15 years of age he is already an award winning singer/songwriter and a multi instrumentalist whose list of instruments ranges from acoustic, electric and 12 string guitar, dobro, harmonica, drums, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, stomp box and bass.
Angus' musical interests are as diverse, ranging from his first love, traditional country music, through to country rock and southern rock genres. He was a graduate of the 2012 Australian CMAA Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia. He was selected by the Australian Bush Balladeers' Association to attend the academy.
Angus first picked up his Dad's old guitar at the tender age of seven and his early musical influences included artists in his parents' music collection, like Keith Urban and Beccy Cole. The musical journey then started with mentor and guitar teacher William Lane.
He has already performed by invitation with multi Golden Guitar winning Country artists: Adam Harvey, Catherine Britt and Pete Denahy. He has also supported highly acclaimed acts, such as: Catherine Britt, Caroline Trengove, David Flowers and Star Maker winner Bob Corbett. He has also appeared in Golden Guitar winner Felicity Urquhart's 2010 film clip titled "The Girl in the Mall."
Angus' acceptance to the academy saw him work alongside 21 youngsters from across Australia and New Zealand during the unique seven day intensive music workshop. His tutors included Felicity Urquhart, Amber Lawrence, Tamara Stewart, Jim Haynes, Lee Bowman of Jetty Road, Simon Johnson and other recording and songwriting industry greats.
Angus's proudest achievement to date was winning 2011 Australian Children's Music Association "National Songwriting Competition" with his song Names Upon the Wall. In 2013, Angus was honoured to take home a highly prestigious Tamworth Songwriter’s Association Junior Songwriter of the Year award at the Tamworth Festival for the same song.
His love of music not only extends onto the stage but also inside 2WAY FM 103.9 Radio Station where he has his own show on a Sunday afternoon from 4-6pm. He has interviewed the likes of: Adam Harvey, 8 Ball Aitken, Pete Denahy, Nicki Gillis, Christie Lamb, Louise Egan, Beccy Cole, Sara Storer, Adam Eckersley, Aleyce Simmonds, Rod Williams, Luke O'Shea, Dianna Corcoran, Rod Brandt, Taylor Pfeiffer, Bob Corbett and Kransky Sisters.
In the field of Songwriting, Angus has collaborated with the likes of Country Music veteran and funny man Jim Haynes and Golden Guitar Winning Tamara Stewart. His Australian ballad style of songwriting reaches out to the new wave of young generation Country music fans, but also the devoted fans that strive to hear fresh and original material on the radio and at his live shows.
Known for his live wire stage persona, electrifying showmanship and wacky western costumes, Angus is a character on and off the stage.
