The Cash Brothers Biography
The Cash Brothers are made up of Andrew and Peter Cash, who are actual brothers. Andrew began his musical career by fronting the popular punk band L'Etranger, which became a fixture on Toronto's Queen Street scene. He then enjoyed a promising solo career, recording albums for the Island and MCA labels in Canada before forming a group called Ursula. Peter, meanwhile, became a key member of country-rockers the Skydiggers through much of the 1990s. When Ursula broke up and Peter left the Skydiggers in 1996, the pair decided to try singing together.
The result: chillingly close harmonies that come naturally to certain siblings. Shaping their musical sound became the greater challenge. "It took some work," admits Andrew. "Peter, as a singer and a songwriter, was more in the roots field, where I'd been working primarily in the area of post-punk and pop. We had to find a way to bring those influences together."
Rounder Records released the albums How Was Tomorrow in 2001 and A Brand New Night in 2003.
