Kelly Lang Biography
One of four children, Kelly Lang was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Hendersonville, Tenn. Her father, Velton Lang, worked as Conway Twitty's road manager for more than 25 years. As a teenager, she released a single ("Lady, Lady"), performed on a variety of TNN programs and made it to the finals of Star Search. For six years, she was also a regular on Ralph Emery's local morning program in Nashville. She also opened concerts for Ronnie Milsap, Brenda Lee, George Jones, Lorrie Morgan, Ricky Skaggs and T.G. Sheppard. However, she left the music business in her late teens to get married and raise a family.
During this time, she concentrated on songwriting, and Lorrie Morgan produced some demos for her. In 2003, she signed to the independent Destiny Row label in Nashville. She wrote her first single for that label, "Goodbye Darlin'," as a tribute to Twitty.
