The Readings Biography

Chris and Eric Reading's love of music began with the lead of their father, who played piano and sang in groups through college. After their own college graduations (Chris at Cornell, Eric at UC Berkeley), Chris turned down an offer to play professional ball, and Eric was headed to medical school. But soon thereafter, the brothers wound up in San Diego together to comfort and help provide for their mother, who was ill with bone marrow cancer. Her death in 1995 prompted them to pursue a career in music.

The fraternal twins signed up for a regular gig, five nights a week, in Solana Beach, Calif., where their charisma, humor and energy built a faithful crowd. When the brothers decided to move to Nashville after a year and a half, the fans gave them a huge send-off. Without them, the venue closed one year later.

The Readings spent the next few years touring and focusing on songwriting. "One of Those Days," a tribute to their mother's strength, became a theme song for the American Cancer Society. They have performed it for more than 10,000 people at ACS events. They've also performed in several venues at the Sundance Film Festival and were invited back to open for Kenny Loggins with the Utah Symphony.

Their albums are titled One of Those Days and Everyday Life.
