Cyndi Thomson Biography

Cyndi Thomson was born Oct. 19, 1976, and grew up in Tifton, Ga., as the last of four sisters. She started singing to her sisters' tapes, then in church. She won the prestigious Georgia Music Hall of Fame competition in her senior year of high school. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta to attend college and sang a few times at a club called Cowboys. Not long after that, she moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University.

There, she met songwriter Tommy Lee James, who co-wrote several of her songs and co-produced her album (with producer Paul Worley). Her debut single, "What I Really Meant to Say," spent three weeks at No. 1 in the summer of 2001, and her debut album, My World, was certified gold. But by the following October, Thomson walked away from her recording career, citing career pressures on her personal life.
