About Clifton Jansky
Singer, guitarist, and songwriter Clifton Jansky has spent over two decades in the music world, starting out as a country performer and then, after many years, moving on to what is known today as Christian-country music. He has completed a number of albums and won several music awards, including the CCMA New Artist of the Year Award. He drew a lot of attention to his singing with the popular tune "Amarillo by Morning," which later became a huge hit for well-known singer George Strait.
Clifton Jansky was born in Pleasanton, TX, in 1956. It was a great state for a country singer to grow up in. He spent his childhood living in a rural area outside of San Antonio. Around the time he entered the first grade, he already knew he wanted to be a country singer and play on the Grand Ole Opry some day. Even before he hit his teens he was part of a band, the Texas Half-Pints. When he was 17 he completed his first recording. After graduating from East Central High School, Jansky made a pretty nice living for himself playing country gigs with his band, the Drifters of San Antonio. He toured a lot, doing shows at clubs, rodeos, and festivals. He also worked as an opening act for big stars like Tanya Tucker and Lee Greenwood. For over 20 years, Jansky did the rounds performing his country music, until a few life-changing events found him reaching for the Lord for the first true time in his life.
In the summer of 1989, he began a new career in Christian-country music. In 1990, Clifton Jansky recorded his debut Christian-country album, No Choice But Rejoice. It was followed a year later by I Choose Jesus. Wind of God was released in 1993. Who Will Stand hit the market the next year. He recorded a couple more albums before finishing From Amarillo by Morning to Amazing Grace in 1999. This album is a special collection that comes with a photo biography of the singer from his early days up to the place he was at the time of that album's release. Some of the songs Jansky has written and recorded since he experienced his musical rebirth include "Forever in His Hand," "We're Lost, But We're Makin' Good Time," "God's Song for You," "Wakin' in the Power of His Light," "It Takes Faith," and "God's Master Plan." ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
