Brothers Dave & Jon Gershen grew up in New York City in the early '60s surrounded by the city's burgeoning folk, blues, and jazz scenes, musical influences that figured prominently in their first group, the Montgomeries, formed in 1968 with Tony Brown. The group moved to Woodstock before disbanding in 1971. The brothers started a second group, Borderline, this time with Jim Rooney, and released a well-received album, Sweet Dreams and Quiet Desires, on Avalanche/United Artists in 1973. Borderline's follow-up, The Second Album, was scheduled for release in 1974, but never appeared, and the group split up (The Second Album eventually appeared on CD in Japan in 2001). The brothers pursued separate musical paths for many years until 2003, when they entered Dan's House Studio in Pennsylvania to begin work on Faded Glory, which was released on Boardinghouse Records in 2004. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
