About Dean Station

Dean Station is a band name adopted by singer/songwriter/mandolin player Levi Dean for various group activities. Dean grew up in Virginia, initially playing in a bluegrass group called the Blueweeds. In 2002 he moved to Taos, NM and formed a band with his brother, guitarist Andrew Dean, called the Dean Boys. He first used the name "Dean Station" for a duo he formed with his wife, Amanda Trainer Dean, also featuring a rhythm section of Doug Deforest on bass and Charlie O'Neal on percussion. They released the album Dean Station in December 2006, followed by a second album, Raising the Root, in August 2007. They split in 2008, but Dean continued to perform as Dean Station in an ensemble with Andrew Dean, percussionists Britt Alexander and Ehren Natay, and varying bassists. The third Dean Station album, Quarter of a Century, was released in May 2009. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
