About Eddie Alkire

Eddie Alkire (1907-1981) pioneered the development of the guitar in the 1940s with his ten-string lap steel version, the Eddie Alkire Eharp; years before the use of pedals, Alkire approximated four-part harmony with dextrous fingerpicking. He released several albums in the 1960s, and was elected to the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 1983. ~ John Bush, Rovi
