Frank Rice, in partnership with Ernest Stokes, was part of a duo called Mustard & Gravy, who specialized in blues, hillbilly, and folk-style music, and minstrel-show entertainment. They recorded Rice's "Be Bop Boogie" in 1950 for the Gotham label--it later became a primo rockabilly piece in the hands of Don Hager and the Hot Tots, cutting for the Oak label. Their one extant piece of music as of the late 1990's is a recording of Rice's "Circus Parade," which appeared on the Library of Congress's Folk Music in America series, Vol. 13 ("Songs of Childhood") in 1978. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
