Boom bang gal chang, turn out the lights! With an energetic stage presence and honest delivery of Alternative Country songs, Karen Fowlie delivers an exciting show not to be missed. Often she’ll invite her friends Christie McPhee and Tammy Weymouth to stand by her side and create three part harmonies in original songs about love, sin and other delights.
From shows at large festivals like the Mountainfest to more intimate solo performances at private house concerts, Fowlie’s love of performing is evident. In 2011 and 2012, Karen toured with her group for two weeks and was the host of the 2012 Vancouver Centennial Stage in West Vancouver. Karen’s band took the main stage at Great Canadian Bike Rally in both 2011 and 2012, opening the show for Streetheart and Trooper.
Besides performing live, Karen’s recorded works have obtained notable local and national exposure. Songs from Karen’s last CD, “Pushing the Edge” have been added to three compilation CDs, the “Thunderstruck 9” extreme snowmobiling DVD and several songs have been featured in the Province Newspaper Playlist. Consumers of Hevy D popcorn across Canada have downloaded Karen’s songs, her music represented BC in a Trade Mission to Japan and Karen has received an acknowledgement by BC’s Attorney General for one of her songs.
Karen is passionate about building her community through the medium of music. Over the past seven years, she has helped youth in the Sea to Sky corridor by teaching them music and helping build their stage presence in local talent shows.
