Singer/Songwriter Kristi Morris-Kellogg of The Kellogg Duo has been singing, writing songs and playing acoustic guitar since she was a kid. She grew up in the westen part of Kentucky and says that growing up with 9 siblings and two parents on a farm is where many of her inspirations for lyrics were born. Her mom sang and played all of her life and more than half of her siblings play instuments and sing too! “A whole lot of shade tree pickin’ and grinnin’ happened on hot summer nights in the bluegrass state” Kristi says. Also, Kristi’s early addiction to alcohol had an influence on her writing as well, but by the Grace of God, she found recovery at an early age and has been clean and sober for many many years. She left Kentucky and moved to Minnesota for a youth ministry job and then a few years later met the other half of The Kellogg Duo, Jeff Kellogg. Their story is like a fairy tale. They started playing music together one day and basically have not stopped since. They were both doing other jobs and they were grateful to have work, but their jobs were not their heartfelt passions. It was music! It’s like they both needed the other to open a door to the rest of their lives and only the other “one” could fit the bill for the other “one”. They got married in a fever in December of 2003.
Jeff plays a Dejembe drum for their duo and he sings as well. He has a “CASH” vibe going on with his vocal style and people seem to love his deep tone. Together, Kristi and Jeff have a certain chemistry that their fans pick up on immediately. But, it is more than their music blend that is “getting” people…it is their chemistry as a couple. Their passion for their music and each other flies off the stage.
Since this journey began in May of 2000, Kristi has been signed to Criterion Music Publishing as a songwriter and is now part of the Universal Music Group Publishing Group as well. They have worked with 2 different Independant Record Labels and they have recorded 4 studio albums. Their latest is self titled KRISTI and JEFF.
