About Larissa Dalle

No stranger to the St. Louis music scene, Larissa Dalle grew up listening to country and blues artists such as Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Bobbie Gentry, and Billie Holiday, among others. In 1990, she and Tim Gregory created an electronic pop-oriented duo known as Collaborateur, which garnered much praise locally and was a critical favorite. The band performed together for years and released four albums. The group also performed on various compilation albums. During this period from 1991 to 2000, particularly the latter half, Dalle became involved in Crushed, a group consisting of her and members of East Ash. The band drew praise from London's Melody Maker magazine, which compared it to Mazzy Star and Elysian Fields. In 2000, Dalle ended her musical partnership with Gregory and concentrated on a roots or traditional country idea. An EP, Piscean, was released, and this was followed in 2001 by the release of That's What We're Here For. She has opened up for various artists, including the Handsome Family. ~ Jason MacNeil, Rovi
