Lauren Wheatley is a singer/songwriter originating from Newcastle, NSW.
No stranger to performing, Lauren has over 10 years’ experience entertaining crowds with singing, musical theatre and dance. Lauren’s true passion and talent however, lies in singing and song-writing which has led to Lauren recently stepping out as an original artist. Lauren feels most at home when telling stories of love, lust, wonder and life accompanied by the sincere tones of country instruments.
Lauren has dedicated 2013 to the creation of her country/pop debut album and is already enjoying the successful release of her first single ‘OVERRATED’, which was co-written with Mollie McClymont (one-third of The McClymonts). The track peaked at number six on the Australian Country Singles Itunes chart and has been given strong exposure on community radio nationally. ‘OVERRATED’ was awarded a top five placing for the country song category in the 2013 Australian Independent Music Oz Awards. The track’s music video has also been given airtime on Foxtel’s national Country Music Channel. Working closely with producer Joel Black (Tommirock Studios), Lauren has created a sound that combines the warm and rustic tones of country music with the energy and modern essence of pop. Complementing this sound are the realistic and relatable lyrics delivered with Lauren’s dynamic voice.
Following up from her successful debut single ‘OVERRATED’, Lauren now brings us her second single, ‘TAKE YOU BACK’, off her forthcoming 2014 album. ‘TAKE YOU BACK’ is an edgy and empowering track which gives strength to those who have been wronged in a previous relationship.
The catchy lyrics, punchy vocals and swift fiddle playing by Rachel Bostock (The Bostocks) combine to unleash a sound not typically associated with Australian country music. ‘TAKE YOU BACK’ will be released on ITunes 15th December.
Lauren’s raw talent and vibrant personality have impressed many well-known country artists who have co-written songs for her debut album including Mollie McClymont (The McClymonts), Morgan Evans, Troy Kemp (McAllister Kemp) and Damien Baguley (The Viper Creek Band).
Lauren is looking forward to putting the finishing touches on her album and hitting the road to share her progressive new sound. It is Lauren's passion for performing and her infectious energy on stage which will surely capture audiences around the nation.
