About Leigh Loyd
Leigh Loyd was born in Louisville and raised in Paducah, Kentucky. She graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School with honors and is currently a student at Belmont University in Nashville, TN working on a degree in public relations with a minor in music business.
“I started playing piano when I was eight. After three years of playing, I stared taking voice lessons, too. That is when I found a deep love for singing. I’ve been playing guitar for one year. This Christmas I got a black Taylor guitar as a present. The next day I wrote my first song called “Stay With Me,” Leigh says of her developing music interests.
“I’ve always had a love for the stage. It’s where I feel most at home. I spent four weeks in New York City, where I attended an intense acting program at the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts.”
After visiting New York and then seeing Lady Antebellum in concert in 2011, Leigh decided to focus on music and aspire to be a country artist. Her musical influences include The Band Perry, Taylor Swift, Edens Edge and Luke Bryan.
“The Band Perry and Edens Edge’s sounds are new different and I love it,” she explains. “I relate to Taylor’s lyrics. I know it’s kind of odd for a female singer to be influenced by Luke Bryan, but he has so much fun with his music! He’s a great entertainer. I want to have fun (doing this).”
Leigh is spending her time writing, studying the craft of songwriting, playing piano and guitar, taking voice lessons and learning as much as she can about the music business.
Leigh comes from a loving family with strong emotional support. “My parents are Rick and Lynn Loyd. They put on quilt shows all over the country for the American Quilter’s Society. I have an older brother, Brett. I was adopted at birth, and am an advocate of Show Hope, a non-profit organization founded by Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth Chapman. It gives families in the U.S. financial aid to adopt orphans all over the World to be placed in a forever home.”
Leigh loves shopping, University of Kentucky basketball and riding around in her Jeep. “I roll the windows down. Let my blonde hair blow, turn up my favorite songs real loud and just sing.”
Leigh is headed into the studio very soon-stay tuned!
