Maggie Watkins is from the small town of Los Banos, CA; right smack in the middle of the farm land of California. Learning the guitar at an early age, she was never taught by a professional, rather off youtube hiding in her closet so that no one would hear her playing. She started her public career with a country radio contest with the prize of a free trip to the 2009 CMA awards and a tour of the famous Sound Kitchen studio. Maggie won the California portion and received over 40,000 votes. She was then entered into a national competition that included 6 other participants from around the country, with the grand prize then of another trip back to Nashville to meet with Scott Borchetta (CEO of Big Machine Records) and Miss Swift herself. Although she had received another set of 46,000 votes this time around, which made put her in first place with votes in the entire country, she was not chosen to move forward. Since then Maggie has travled from one ocean to the other, playing shows and exploring what the great USA has to offer. In 2012, Maggie was entered into the Rich O'Toole contest in which to star in his new music video for his Texas country radio single. Maggie destroyed the other competitors which only goes to show that she will not stop until she reaches the top. Since then, she has taken up mandolin and the banjo, and is currently working with the Moonshine Bandits on new music.
