About Marcus Boyd
Marcus broadened his horizons in his college days at Clinch Valley College (now UVA Wise), where he met several talented musicians of differing styles and spent many evenings collaborating.
Marcus grew up playing country, bluegrass and gospel music and later became acquainted with rock, blues and classical styles. Some of his professional influences include Tom Petty, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Leo Kottke, Van Halen, and Counting Crows.
Marcus has two sons, Blake and Cameron, who are the joys of his life. Marcus is a sports fan through and through, pulling for his beloved Detroit Tigers, Chicago Bears and UVA Cavaliers.
A self-made business man, Marcus has been blessed success at many different ventures. As his sons have gotten older, Marcus has gotten back into live performing. Nowadays Marcus is back to his favorite genre, country music. His music is a subtle blend of traditional country, bluegrass, modern country and rock.
Lately, Marcus has spent more time working on original music. Painting vivid pictures of his own life, songs like I Gotta Go, Route 22, End of our Song, The Bird, Leavin’ Virginia, Beer League, Tuesday Sunset, Take A Little Walk with You, Real Man and Gonna Love You show some of the many facets of his life. His music has attracted attention in Nashville and beyond.
Marcus plays venues all over Virginia, the Carolinas, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia and enjoys the live aspect of performing. His self-produced album "The Bird" was released in February 2014 and is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play Store, eMusic and other online music retailers.
