About Molly & the Heymakers

The well-known songwriter and vocalist Molly Scheer, who also plays the fiddle and mandolin, leads the capable country group known as Molly & the Heymakers. Other members are guitarist Paul Bergen, drummer Scott Tate, bassist Rick Berger, and, last but not least, Andy Dee on percussion, bass, and guitar. This Minneapolis band takes the best from honky tonk, bluegrass, country-rock, and other styles and combines them seamlessly.

The group's first single, "Chasin' Something," was released in 1990. A self-titled debut album followed two years later, recorded under the Reprise Records label. "Mountain of Love" and "Anyone Can Be Somebody's Fool" are a couple of the notable tracks on this first full-length offering.

In 1995, the album Big Things, completed under the Mouthpiece Records label, hit the stores. There were a number of talented artists who helped out on the recording, including Joe Lindzius, Jeff Nelson, Keith Edwards, Bruce McCabe, Anthony Martin, Charlie Bingham, Terry Crisp, and many others. The album showcased standout tunes like "Cheap Red Wine," "All the Girls Know Your Name," and "Nice Girls Finish Last." Molly & the Heymakers recorded its third album, Lucky Flame, in 1998. ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
