Rosemary Patricia "Pebe" Sebert (born March 17, 1956) is an American singer-songwriter who is the mother of singer-songwriter Ke$ha. She has two other children, Louie and Lagan Blue Sebert. Best known for co-writing the number-one hit "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" by country singer Dolly Parton, Sebert also authored several tracks on Kesha's debut album, Animal. Born in Brentwood, Tennessee, Sebert also appeared on one episode of the reality show "The Simple Life" that stars Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Life edit: Early life edit: Sebert was born in Brentwood, Tennessee on March 17, 1956. Motherhood edit: Pebe, a single mother, struggled financially while supporting herself, Kesha, and her older brother Lagan; they relied on welfare payments and food stamps to get by. Pebe would often have to look after her onstage while performing. A man who called himself Kesha's father approached Star Magazine in 2011 with pictures and letters, claiming them as proof that they had been in regular contact as father and daughter before she turned 19. Pebe frequently brought Kesha and her brothers along to recording studios and encouraged Kesha to sing when she noticed Kesha's vocal talent. Career edit: In the 1970s, Sebert wrote "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" with then husband Hugh Moffatt. "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" was covered by many artists, including Sebert's daughter Kesha, who covered it for Extended play Deconstructed. Famous Country singer Dolly Parton's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Sebert went on and wrote many songs with her daughter Kesha such as: "Animal", "Stephen", "Your Love Is My Drug", "Cannibal", "Crazy Beautiful Life", "Time of Our Lives",and "Disgusting". In 2004 Sebert appeared on X-mas Balls' Holiday album She left me for Rudolph. She sang "If I was an Angel" with Ned McElroy and Jerry Williams. In May 2005, Sebert, Kesha, and her son Lagan starred in a episode of reality series "The Simple Life". The episode was titled "The wedding planner". In the episode, Sebert let's the stars of the show Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie stay at her house while they plan a wedding. In 2012 Sebert co wrote "Warrior", "Dirty Love", and "Wonderland" for daughter, Kesha's album Warrior. Sebert provided vocals for Dirty Love which featured Iggy Pop. In April 2013, Sebert started appearing on her daughter, Kesha's Reality show Kesha: My Crazy Beautiful Life which is filmed by her son Lagan. Kesha: My Crazy Beautiful Life airs on MTV. The series documents the past two years of Kesha's life as she goes on tour and works on her album, Warrior. Personal life edit: Sebert was married to Hugh Moffatt with whom she wrote "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You". They had one child together, Lagan Blue Sebert, a video and documentary film director. They divorced in 1984 after being married for for seven years. Lagan is married to Sandra Sampayo, an actor and producer. They have one son, Rio. On March 1, 1987, Sebert gave birth to her daughter, Kesha Rose Sebert. Kesha is a singer-songwriter who has wrote many songs with Pebe. Sebert moved the family to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991 after securing a new publishing deal for her songwriting. Sebert's youngest child, Louis, was born shortly after.
