It's not often a U.K. artist cuts a U.S. country hit on their first trip to the States, but in 2012, that's what happened to Sam Palladio, and performing a duet with an Australian, no less. Besides being an actor, Palladio was a singer/songwriter as well, so in 2011, when he read the pilot script for the American television series Nashville, he sent the show's producers demo recordings from his London flat and landed the part of country star hopeful Gunnar Scott. I 2012, he came to Nashville to begin shooting and met his duet partner -- Australian actress Clare Bowen -- along with his country music coach -- singer, songwriter, and producer Buddy Miller -- soon after landing. The duo was given the Civil Wars' song "If I Didn't Know Better" to perform during the show's pilot, and two hours after the show's premiere, Palladio and Bowen's version had climbed to number 30 on the iTunes singles chart. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
