About The Damsels
The beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota and the foothills of the great Rocky Mountains combine to bring you the newest sound in country music today. The Damsels blend the voices of nineteen year old Keenie Word of Hermosa, South Dakota and twenty one year old Aubree Bullock of Loveland, Colorado.
Growing up at the base of Mount Rushmore, Keenie Word was raised in the shadows of legends, both literally and figuratively. Her mother was a national champion barrel racer and Casey Tibbs Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer. Keenie’s father was a PRCA steer wrestler and her brother, Jess Tierney, is a NFR steer roper. Keenie recently became 2012 High School Extravaganza Champion and 2012 NWBRA Champion barrel racer. Besides her love of rodeo, Keenie was mentored and has performed with Susie McEntire, sister of the legendary Reba McEntire, for over 10 years.
Born and raised in Colorado, Aubree Bullock was brought up with a strong country background. She actively competed in rodeo as a barrel racer until she became a full time musician and artist. Since a young age she has been singing and performing at fairs and festivals nationwide. Aubree was top five finalist for Best New Artist at the Inspirational Country Music Awards for two consecutive years as well as top five finalist for Female Vocalist and Christian Country Song of the Year.
Before forming The Damsels in 2012, both girls honed their vocal skills in their respective home churches, cowboy churches and other venues across the nation. Both girls have released solo albums prior to recording The Damsels EP and music video, “Trucks Are For Girls.” The Damsels have been busy traveling, songwriting and performing at rodeos, county fairs, and festivals throughout the country where they have opened for major acts as well as been the headliner. The Damsels were signed with Nashville's Buddy Lee Attractions last year and have been booked at well known venues including the MGM Grand in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo 2013. They have been busy in the studio recording great new original material and also meeting with major labels in Nashville.
This year is already shaping up to be a great new year. The Damsels couldn’t be more excited and ready.
