Named for the highway that passes the band's rehearsal space in Vista, California, West 78 plays sharp, aggressive modern rock that recalls everything from Ben Harper and the Spin Doctors to the Crash Test Dummies and Dave Matthews Band while incorporating hard rock, jazz, gospel and R&B into the mix.

After searching for like-minded musicians, guitarist, singer and songwriter Kerry Bell found guitarist Brian Donaldson and in 2000, the two dubbed themselves West 78. After several drummer and bassist changes, the band settled on a line-up that includes bassist Ted Trepinski, drummer Butch Baron and keyboardist Gary Brown. The group released their driving and uplifting debut, American Girl in May of 2002. ~ Charles Spano, Rovi
