Volunteer Scholarship Contest

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE ONE'S CHANCE OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

2. ELIGIBILITY: The Scholarship Contest is open to legal residents who reside in the United States and who meet one of the following requirements: are a legal resident of the United States; have been granted permanent residency; have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies; have been granted temporary protected status along with approved Notice of Action issued by Citizen Immigration Services and verified through CIS Form g-845; or have been granted asylum along with the approved Notice of Action issued by the Citizen Immigration Services. Entrants must be eligible for entry into college at time of entry. Entrants who are not yet at the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside will be required to obtain parental or legal guardian consent to be eligible to be declared a winner. Employees (and their immediate families) of Country Music Television Inc. ("CMT") an MTV Networks, a division of Viacom International Inc., (collectively referred to herein as "MTVN"), Apollo Group, Inc., University of Phoenix or any other applicable subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc. (collectively referred to herein as the "Scholarship Sponsors") and each of their respective affiliated companies, subsidiaries, advertising agencies or any person who has won an CMT Sweepstakes or Contest in the preceding twelve month period are not eligible to participate or win a prize. Entrants who are receiving 100% tuition reimbursement are not eligible to enter into this Scholarship Contest. All entrants are subject to University of Phoenix's admission policies, procedures, rules and regulations. By participating in this Contest, Entrants agree: (a) to be bound by these Official Rules, the University of Phoenix Terms and Conditions of Scholarship and Distribution of Funds and by the decisions of MTVN, which are final in all matters relating to this Scholarship Contest (b) to release and hold harmless Scholarship Sponsors and their respective agents, employees, officers, directors, successors and assigns, against any and all claims, injury or damage arising out of or relating to participation in this Scholarship Contest and/or the use or misuse or redemption of a prize; and (c) acknowledge compliance with these Official Rules and the University of Phoenix Terms and Conditions of Scholarship and Distribution of Funds.

3. HOW TO ENTER: The Contest begins at 12:00 p.m. (CDT) on July 14, 2008 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (CDT) on August 8, 2008. To enter, go to www.cmt.com (the "Website") and follow the entry instructions. Entrants will be required to submit a completed entry form and an original essay within that same entry form (the "Essay Parameters"). The original essay will describe why the applicant believes volunteering is important and how he/she or the person you are nominating shows the qualities of someone committed to community and making his/her world better and describes how the applicant has made an impact on the community and inspires others to do the same. Along with the essay, Entrants must complete and sign the University of Phoenix Terms and Conditions of Scholarship and Distribution of Funds. Entrants should also be prepared to submit additional materials at the request of MTVN and the Scholarship Sponsors for consideration during the judging process, at MTVN's or Scholarship Sponsors' sole discretion. If an entrant's essay does not meet with all aspects of the foregoing Essay Parameters, said essay will be disqualified. Limit one entry per person. Entries may not contain material, messages, data, images or programs that Scholarship Sponsors, in their sole discretion, deem inappropriate. Entries submitted in full compliance with these Official Rules shall be collectively referred to hereinafter as the "Eligible Entries".

4. JUDGING AND SELECTION OF WINNER: Beginning on August 9, 2008 the Eligible Entries will be judged by the Scholarship Committee consisting of representatives from the University of Phoenix, based in part on the following criteria, applied equally: completeness of application, verification of volunteer hours (to be confirmed by MTVN) and the impact that entrant has made on community and the creativity, originality, quality of writing, and aptness of the essay to the topic. The grand prize winner (the "Scholarship Recipient") will be selected from among the Eligible Entries that, in the judges' estimation, most effectively meets the judging criteria. The Scholarship Recipient will be selected without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex or disability. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, the University of Phoenix Terms and Conditions of Scholarship and Distribution of Funds and the decisions of the judges, which are final. The potential winner will be notified by mail, email or phone beginning on or about August 12, 2008 ("Award Date"). The potential winner (or her parent/guardian if the potential winner is a minor) may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility (certifying, among other things, that the entry and all components thereof is the potential winner's own original work, has not been previously published and has not previously won a prize or award), a liability release, a publicity release (except where prohibited or restricted by law), signed and acknowleged Terms and Conditions of Scholarship and Distribution of Funds, signed and acknowleged Consent and Release Form and an assignment of rights in and to all entry materials within three (3) days of notification or the potential winner may be disqualified.

5. GRAND PRIZE ALSO KNOWN AS THE "SCHOLARSHIP" (1): the Scholarship Recipient will receive one (1) college scholarship (the "Scholarship") valued at an estimate of $50,000, to be applied toward an established degree program to be pursued by the Scholarship Recipient at University of Phoenix located in the United States (the "College"). If the Scholarship Recipient is in high school, of high school age or currently enrolled in College, the Scholarship must be used towards a four (4) year undergraduate program, with the student most likely starting in a two (2) year associate program, then completing the remaining two years in a bachelor's program. The Scholarship is subject to the following conditions: (a) the Scholarship has no cash value and is redeemable only at University of Phoenix for costs of tuition and fees. (b) if the Scholarship Recipient is still enrolled in high school, said Scholarship Recipient must enroll in a College as a student no later than the twelve months following Scholarship Recipient's high school graduation date, if Scholarship Recipient is not enrolled in high school then Scholarship Recipient mush enroll in College within thirty (30) days from the Award Date; (c) once the Scholarship Recipient is registered at the College, the Scholarship Recipient must remain enrolled as a student for such period of time as he/she is receiving the Scholarship and the Scholarship then must be used over a time period not to exceed five (5) years from initial enrollment. The student must maintain full time status with no more than a thirty day break between classes or a total of sixty days break over a calendar year. If the Scholarship Recipient ceases to be a student for more than the aforementioned time Scholarship Sponsors will have no further obligation for the payment of the Scholarship; (d) the award recipient may transfer to another location within the University of Phoenix, subject to Scholarship Sponsors' prior approval, which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. In such event, the recipient must remain a student and must continue his or her studies in pursuit of an established degree. Situations and circumstances may arise which are not foreseen and are not covered by these rules. In such event, every effort will by made by Scholarship Sponsors to fulfill the purpose of this promotion (i.e., to provide a scholarship up to a maximum of $50,000 to be applied toward a college education at the University of Phoenix); and (e) the Scholarship Recipient agrees to abide by all terms and conditions outlined in the University of Phoenix Scholarship Terms and Conditions document. Scholarship Sponsors reserves the right to make the final decision in its sole discretion of any issue which might arise, and the Scholarship Recipient agrees to abide by Scholarship Sponsors' decisions. The Scholarship Recipient (or, if a minor, his/her parents or legal guardian) will be required to execute an agreement and release reflecting Scholarship Sponsors' right to make such decisions. The average retail value of the Scholarship is $50,000, however, per the terms of the Scholarship no cash value will be awarded. Arrangements for the fulfillment of the Scholarship will be made by Contest Sponsors. The dates for fulfillment of the Scholarship will be subject to the date of Scholarship Recipient's enrollment at an eligible academic institution in compliance with the terms of these Official Rules and such dates are subject to change in Scholarship Sponsors' sole discretion. If applicable, taxes on the Scholarship are the sole responsibility of the Scholarship Recipient.

6. GENERAL RULES: All entries and entry materials, including without limitation the essays, become the property of the MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors and will not be acknowledged or returned. MTVN and/or Scholarship Sponsors will have the right to photograph and/or film the Scholarship Recipient. Entry constitutes a grant of permission to MTVN, Scholarship Sponsors and their respective licensees, and those they may designate from time to time, to use the Scholarship Recipients name, picture, likeness, and city and state of residence, and all entry materials (including essay and online application), including without limitation modifying, altering or amending essays, for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion, in all media whether now known or later developed, for no additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). Submission of any entry constitutes entrant's consent (and, with respect to entrants under the age of 18, that of her parent/legal guardian) to irrevocably assign to the MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors any and all right to entry materials, including without limitation all intellectual property rights therein. All entry materials, including without limitation essays must be original to entrant and must not contain any elements whose use by MTVN or Scholarship Sponsors in accordance with the terms hereof would require the permission of or payment to any third party. Neither MTVN nor Scholarship Sponsors are responsible for incomplete, lost, late, damaged, illegible, or misdirected entries or email, or for any technical problems or for any malfunctions of any telephone lines, computer systems, servers, providers, hardware or software, or for lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, or any combination thereof. Neither MTVN nor will Scholarship Sponsors assume any responsibility for undeliverable emails resulting from any form of active or passive email filtering by a user's Internet service provider and/or email client or for insufficient space in user's email account to receive email. MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors are not responsible for any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in or accessing or downloading information in connection with this promotion. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAW. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this Scholarship should a virus, bugs, entrant fraud or misconduct or other causes beyond the control of the MTVN or Scholarship Sponsors corrupt the administration, integrity, security or proper operation of the Scholarship Contest. In the event of termination of the Scholarship Contest, a notice will be posted online on the Website. Neither MTVN nor Scholarship Sponsors are responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest, or in the announcement of the prizes.

7. All entrants release MTVN and Scholarship Sponsors and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their directors, officers, employees and agents, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Scholarship Contest, from any and all claims and liabilities arising from or in connection with participation in this Scholarship Contest, including without limitation claims for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participation in this Scholarship Contest or acceptance or use of any award. Void in Alaska and Hawaii and where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
