5th Annual CMA Awards Summary

Charley Pride earns both the entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year awards. Lynn Anderson's popular "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" helps secure the female vocalist trophy, and Sammi Smith's classic "Help Me Make It Through the Night" is named single of the year. Jerry Reed and Danny Davis & the Nashville Brass win the instrumentalist and instrumental group awards, respectively, while Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner collect their second duo of the year nod. "Easy Loving" by Freddie Hart is named song of the year, and country crooner Ray Price wins album of the year for I Won't Mention It Again. The popular bluegrass act, the Osborne Brothers, win vocal group of the year. Talent scout Arthur Edward Satherely is inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
