6th Annual CMA Awards Summary

Popular singer Glen Campbell hosts the show as Loretta Lynn becomes the first female to win the coveted entertainer of the year award. Lynn is also named female vocalist and shares the duo of the year award with frequent duet partner Conway Twitty. Charley Pride continues his reign as the male vocalist of the year, and Merle Haggard's Let Me Tell You About a Song wins album of the year. For the first time, the Statler Brothers are named vocal group of the year, an honor they will win consecutively over the next six years. Donna Fargo's popular hit, "The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.," is named single of the year. Singer-songwriter Jimmie H. Davis is inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
