Q.
How do I download and
install a media player?
A.
Q.
Player displays
"Tuning in..." or "Building playlist..." but doesn't play music.
A.
Your media player plug-in may not be working properly. If
this problem occurs only occasionally, it is likely due to varying levels of Internet traffic. Try closing and restarting
the player. If this problem occurs every time you listen, you should uninstall and reinstall your RealPlayer.
Q.
My player looks likes
it's working, but there's no sound.
A.
Make sure that your Windows volume settings are turned up
and that no media players are open.
Q.
Songs skip; I hear static;
I'm seeing "buffering" or "net congestion" messages.
A.
These problems are due to decreased Internet performance
on your computer. Here's what you can do to improve the situation: Make sure that your connection speed settings are set to
"Modem" if that's how you are connected to the Internet. If you are using a modem, make sure that you are dialing in to your
Internet service provider (ISP) using the appropriate phone number for your modem speed. If you are not sure what this number
is, go to your ISP's Web site, and look for the "Access Numbers" area of the site. There, you should be able to find a local
dial-in number for your connection speed (56K Kbps, etc.). For quality reasons, we only support 56K and above. Reduce the
amount of Web surfing you do while listening. Follow the instructions to make sure that your RealPlayer is configured for
optimal performance. Net congestion, or failure to receive our stream, may be caused by corporate bandwidth limitations or
from being behind a firewall. You may want to consult with your systems administrator.
Q.
Why are certain songs
louder than others?
A.
Some CDs are recorded louder than others. For example, jazz
and classical CDs tend to be quiet, while rock CDs tend to be loud. When we convert the music to play over the Internet, the
volume differences remain.
Q.
Volume resets at the
beginning of every song.
A.
Your media player is reverting to your PC's main volume
settings at the start of each new song. Here's how to fix it: Make sure the player is closed. Right-click on the speaker
icon in your system tray (bottom right of your desktop). Select OPEN VOLUME CONTROLS. Make sure that MASTER VOLUME and WAVE
OUT are turned up and not muted. Close the window when you are finished. The next time you start up Country.com Radio, each
song will play at the volume you set. NOTE: This solution will not work with some sound cards installed on Windows NT systems.
Q.
When I start the player,
I hear one song and then nothing.
A.
One of your Windows sound settings is affecting your player.
Here's how to fix it:
Close the CMT.com Radio player.
Click the START button.
Select SETTINGS.
Select CONTROL PANEL.
Double-click the SOUNDS icon.
Select CONTROL PANEL.
In the EVENTS window (at the top), scroll down to WINDOWS EXPLORER
Select START NAVIGATION
Use the NAME pull-down menu beneath the window and select NONE
Click APPLY, then OK.
Q.
Sound is too fast,
too slow or very distorted.

down my mouse or my computer.

I can't close the tuner
window; my browser crashed.
A.
Your system memory may be low or your media player may not
be working properly. Try this: If you have several applications open, try closing a few to see if the situation improves.
If the problem continues, you should uninstall and reinstall your RealPlayer.
