31st Annual CMA Awards Summary
Garth Brooks regains the title of entertainer of the year, and his future wife, Trisha Yearwood, earns her first female vocalist
award. George Strait wins male vocalist, and his Carrying Your Love With Me takes the album of the year honor. Deana
Carter's hit "Strawberry Wine" is named single of the year and gives writers Matraca Berg and Gary Harrison the song of the
year award. A teenage LeAnn Rimes wins the Horizon Award, while Diamond Rio and Brooks & Dunn collect more vocal group and
vocal duo awards. Tim McGraw's duet, "It's Your Love," with wife Faith Hill wins the couple their first CMA award for vocal
event. During the show, Shania Twain makes her first public performance of her new single, "Love Gets Me Everytime." Stars
Clint Black and Martina McBride perform their duet "Still Holdin' On," and rock star Sting joins Toby Keith on "I'm So Happy
I Can't Stop Crying." Hit songwriters Harlan Howard and Cindy Walker join crossover sensation Brenda Lee as this year's Country
Music Hall of Fame inductees.
