This year's show includes memorable collaborations, such as Alabama performing "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" with pop group 'N Synch. Rock's Jewel joined the legendary Merle Haggard on his classic, "That's the Way Love Goes." International superstar Shania Twain is the first female in 13 years to win the coveted entertainer of the year award. The Dixie Chicks' hit, "Wide Open Spaces," wins both the music video and single of the year honors. The trio are also named vocal group of the year. Tim McGraw's A Place in the Sun wins album of the year, and McGraw also earns male vocalist honors. McGraw's future duet partner, Jo Dee Messina, takes the Horizon Award, and vocal powerhouse Martina McBride wins her first female vocalist award. Faith Hill's hit "This Kiss" gives songwriters Robin Lerner, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Annie Roboff the song of the year trophy. The Country Music Hall of Fame inducts songwriter Johnny Bond and singers Dolly Parton and the late Conway Twitty.
