Entertainer of the Year: Dixie Chicks

34th Annual CMA Awards Summary

The Dixie Chicks are the night's biggest winners, taking home four awards. The trio receive the coveted entertainer of the year, as well as vocal group of the year. Fly is named album of the year, and their star-filled video "Goodbye Earl" wins video of the year. The crossover hit "I Hope You Dance" earns Lee Ann Womack the single of the year award and gives co-writers Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers the song of the year honor. Montgomery Gentry unseat Brooks & Dunn in the duo category, while hot new singer-songwriter Brad Paisley receives the Horizon Award. Country's hot couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, win the male and female vocalist awards. The ode to traditional country, "Murder on Music Row," gives a surprised Alan Jackson and George Strait the vocal event of the year nod.
