36th Annual CMA Awards Summary

The night belongs to Alan Jackson, who makes history when he's nominated for 10 awards, breaking Merle Haggard's 1970 record of nine. Jackson wins five awards including entertainer, male vocalist, album (Drive), single and song for "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." Future superstars Rascal Flatts win the Horizon Award, and Martina McBride is reinstated as the female vocalist. Lee Ann Womack's duet with Willie Nelson, "Mendocino County Line," earns the vocal event of the year trophy. The comical "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)" gives Brad Paisley his first video of the year award. Shania Twain makes her first television performance in three years with her song, "I'm Gonna Getcha Good." Faith Hill earns a standing ovation for "When the Lights Go Down," and Travis Tritt honors Waylon Jennings with "You Can't Count Me Out Yet." Dolly Parton gives an inspiring performance of "Hello God" while backed by the Christ Church Choir of Nashville. Parton also inducts longtime duet partner Porter Wagoner and Jumpin' Bill Carlisle into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
