CMT Viewers Take Control to Choose the Finalists for the CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards
Online Voting Will Begin Wednesday, Feb. 12 on CMT.com
CMT viewers will take control when they choose the finalists for the CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards -- country music’s only fan-voted awards show and only video music awards show. On Wednesday, Feb. 12, CMT viewers can begin voting for their favorite videos on CMT.com to determine the finalists and later the winners for the second annual CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards. The star-studded show will air live from the Gaylord Entertainment Center in downtown Nashville Monday, April 7 at 8 p.m., ET. Performers include superstars Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
During the first round of voting starting Wednesday, Feb. 12, fans will choose from 10 nominees in each of the Flameworthy categories. The first round of voting will end on Sunday, March 9 when the votes will be tabulated, and the field will be narrowed to five finalists in each category. On Tuesday, March 11, CMT will announce the final five nominees in each category. Immediately following the announcement, fans will again be able to vote online at CMT.com through Saturday, April 5 to determine the Flameworthy winners in each category. The winners will be announced Monday, April 7 at the live CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards.
Videos that debuted on CMT April 1, 2002, through Jan. 31, 2003, are eligible for the CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards. The CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards categories include:
Flameworthy Breakthrough Video of the Year
Best video from an artist's major label debut album; awarded to the artist (individual, group or duo)
Flameworthy Fashion Plate Video of the Year
Best dressed/styled artist in a video (individual, group or duo)
Flameworthy Concept Video of the Year
Most creative concept that broadens the scope of the song's story; awarded to the artist
(individual, group or duo)
Flameworthy Group/Duo Video of the Year
Best video by a group or duo; awarded to the artist
Flameworthy Hottest Female Video of the Year
Sexiest video by a female artist; awarded to the artist
Flameworthy Hottest Male Video of the Year
Sexiest video by a male artist; awarded to the artist
Flameworthy Video Director of the Year
Video with the best direction (video that best captures the mood, tempo, and intensity of the song); awarded to the video director for work on a specific video
Flameworthy Cocky Video of the Year
Video with the most attitude; awarded to the artist (individual, group or duo)
Flameworthy Female Video of the Year
Best video by a female artist; awarded to the artist
Flameworthy Male Video of the Year
Best video by a male artist; awarded to the artist
Flameworthy Video of the Year
Best video of the year; awarded to the artist (individual, group or duo). Final five nominees announced on live telecast; voting held online during the show.
Tickets for the CMT Flameworthy 2003 Video Music Awards are on sale now at CMT’s Web site CMT.com and through Ticketmaster at (615) 255-9600 or ticketmaster.com. In Nashville, tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and at the Gaylord Entertainment Center box office.
The 2002 inaugural CMT Flameworthy Video Music Awards was seen by 6.3 million viewers in its premiere airings. The show’s debut telecast swept multiple demographic groups to make CMT the No. 1 rated basic cable network among women ages 18-49 and women ages 25-54 during the time period. In addition, the awards show premiere was the highest rated commercial telecast in CMT history among viewers ages 18-49, and it was the second highest rated telecast among viewers ages 18-49 when compared to all basic cable network shows for the entire day’s programming (June 12, 2002). CMT viewers cast more than 2.2 million votes at CMT’s web site CMT.com to select their favorite Flameworthy videos. |
