The 2006 CMT Music Awards can't get started without a big party to kick off the event. As usual, we'll have live performances in downtown Nashville leading up to the main event. CMT will host a special block party featuring performances by country stars Jason Aldean, Little Big Town and Van Zant. The block party will be part of the CMT Music Awards Pre-Party, which will feature interviews with the nominees as they arrive on the red carpet. CMT's Katie Cook and Lance Smith will host the pre-party, which will air live on CMT the 90-minutes before the 2006 CMT Music Awards.

The 2006 CMT Music Awards will take Nashville by storm on April 10, and CMT Insider will be on the scene for all the action. The final nominees for the video of the year award will be announced at the beginning of the 2006 CMT Music Awards with voting taking place by the fans during the live broadcast. American Idol winner Carrie Underwood hosts a one-hour special prior to the big night featuring all eight first round nominees for viewers to get a chance to decide who they will vote for during the show.
