Raul Malo (of the Mavericks), Allison Moorer, Big Sandy and Dave Alvin are among the artists appearing on Los Straitjackets’ next album, tentatively due Sept. 25. Known for wearing Mexican wrestling masks onstage, Los Straitjackets typically deliver instrumental music that draws heavily from ‘50s rock ‘n’ roll and ‘60s surf music (popularized by guitarists such as Link Wray and Dick Dale). This time out, the band has recruited a number of guest vocalists for an album of classic covers titled Sing Along With Los Straitjackets. Nick Lowe, Rev. Horton Heat, Exene Cervenka (of X), Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere & the Raiders) and Leigh Nash (of Sixpence None the Richer) also are on board.
