Restoration to Begin on Monroe’s Childhood Home

Restoration of Bill Monroe’s childhood home in Rosine, Ky., will begin ceremoniously at 9 a.m. Saturday (May 26). James Monroe, his son, and other former members of Monroe’s band, the Blue Grass Boys, will be on hand to drive the symbolic first nail. Franklin, Tenn.–based Leatherwood, Inc. will restore the home. The Bill Monroe Foundation — 16 investors who are developing a state park and museum honoring Monroe in his hometown — spearheads the project.
