Tritt Will Travel His Own Road

Georgia officials will honor native son Travis Tritt Tuesday (June 12) by naming a section of highway after the country music star. A three-mile section of Highway 92 will be called "Travis Tritt Highway," and signs at entry points to Paulding County will read "Home of Country Music Star Travis Tritt." "We are very proud of Travis and his successful music career," says State Representative Glenn Richardson, who led the initiative. "We value even more his involvement in the community and wanted to recognize his efforts." The ceremony will take place in Hiram, Ga., outside Atlanta. Tritt, whose latest CD is titled Down the Road I Go, relishes the attention. "I always look forward to returning home from the road, but now I get to see my name on the ‘Welcome to Paulding County’ signs and have the bus drive down ‘Travis Tritt Highway.’ That’s cool." 06/06/01
