Womack Will Make Merry

In the heat of summer, Lee Ann Womack has outlined her plans for a Christmas tour. The singer will mount her first ever holiday tour in late November with the 15-piece Duke Ellington Orchestra, led by Ellington's grandson, Mercer. "You know, it's going to be an amazing evening of music," Womack says. "We'll have my band, 9-1-1, out there too, so we'll start off with some of the hits that people expect to hear me sing, then we'll bring out the Ellington Orchestra and do traditional Christmas songs, which to me seems like the very best of both worlds." The Yuletide trek will take place between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tour dates, not yet announced, will concentrate on the Northeast and the Midwest. 06/12/01
