Record-Breaking Fan Fair

The Country Music Association reports that this year’s Fan Fair had “an aggregate daily attendance of more than 124,000,” or an average of 31,000 per day, the largest crowd in the event’s 30-year history. The total includes people who showed up at any of the venues included in this year’s Fan Fair: the Nashville Convention Center, Adelphia Coliseum, Riverfront Park and the Bicentennial Mall. Fan Fair registrants who bought four-day passes were counted four times. A Fan Fair sellout at the event’s former site, the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, was 24,000. Using this year’s accounting method, the aggregate total for four days would have come in at 96,000. Organizers this year counted four-day pass holders, single-day ticket buyers at Adelphia and Riverfront Park and people who attended free events at the Bicentennial Mall. 06/18/01
