Vanderbilt Honors BMI’s Preston

Nashville’s Vanderbilt University dedicated a new medical building Wednesday (June 20) in honor of Country Music Hall of Fame member Frances Preston, president and CEO of performing rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI). Preston is president of the board of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research. The foundation established the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at Vanderbilt in 1993. Since then, the foundation has provided more than $5 million for research in breast, prostate, colon, ovarian and lung cancers. Vince Gill and Amy Grant were to emcee the dedication and grand opening ceremonies of the new facility. 06/20/01
