Black Named Celebrity of the Year

Clint Black was honored with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Celebrity of the Year award on Saturday (June 23). The country star has contributed to the “Country Cares for St. Jude Kids” radiothon and fundraising campaign for years. Black was recognized for his humanitarian efforts during St. Jude’s annual convention in Memphis. Currently in the studio working on a new album, Black did not attend the event. Maria Brunner, from Black’s management company, accepted the award on his behalf. In a statement, Black credited Brunner with assisting him in his support of St. Jude. “It’s easy to join in a cause that has so much love behind it and so much hope ahead of it,” he said in the statement. Black received the Country Radio Broadcasters Artist Humanitarian Award in 2000 for his involvement with St. Jude and other charity initiatives. 06/25/01
