Jamie O'Neal underwent surgery for a ruptured disc Wednesday morning (June 27) in Nashville. She will be released by week's end and is expected to make a full recovery in the next few weeks, according to a statement from her label, Mercury Records. The country singer, voted top new female vocalist last month by the Academy of Country Music, has canceled all personal appearances until July 13, when she begins the Girls' Night Out tour with Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. 06/27/01
