Bill Anderson Fans Help Him Celebrate 40th Year on Opry
More than 300 Bill Anderson fans came to Nashville the weekend of July 13-14 to help the singer-songwriter celebrate his 40th anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Attending were fan club members from 31 states, Canada, the Bahamas and Scotland. The gathering was dubbed "Wild Weekend III," taking its name from Anderson’s 1968 hit. There was additional cause for fan rejoicing because of the recent announcement that Anderson will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October. 07/24/01
