CMT to Telecast Farm Aid Concert

CMT will telecast the 14th Farm Aid benefit concert Sept. 29 from the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Ind., located outside Indianapolis. Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp will be on the bill, with others to be announced. Carrying the concert for the fourth straight year, CMT will provide live coverage 4-10 p.m. Farm Aid was founded in 1985 to raise public awareness about the plight of the American family farmer and to provide assistance to those whose livelihoods depend on agriculture. Raising funds through benefit concerts and other events, Farm Aid has granted $16 million to more than 100 farm organizations, churches and service agencies. Farm Aid concerts were not held in 1988, 1989 or 1991. The concert was held in Mellencamp’s native Indiana once before, in 1990. 07/26/01
