Delbert McClinton to Join Walk of Fame

Lubbock, Texas, native Delbert McClinton will join “The Buddy Holly Walk of Fame,” honoring influential West Texas natives, on Aug. 29. McClinton gets a plaque at the base of Lubbock’s Buddy Holly statue, and a reception will be held in his honor on the same day. McClinton will perform the Buddy Holly Walk of Fame Induction Concert at the Civic Center Theater. McClinton’s recent CD release, Nothing Personal, broke a record when it stayed at No. 1 on the Americana chart for 12 consecutive weeks. In ceremonies marking Holly’s 65th birthday, McClinton will speak on a songwriters’ panel moderated by Peter Guralnick, part of the Buddy Holly Symposium, Sept. 6 in Lubbock. “Some of the most influential music in the world has come from Lubbock,” McClinton says in a news release. “To be included on that list is a great honor.” 08/10/01
