Deana Carter Mulling Move to RCA

A source in RCA Records’ A&R (artist & repertoire) department confirms that Deana Carter is discussing signing with the label but that no deal has been struck. After a four-year gestation period at Capitol Records in the mid-to-late 1990s, Carter scored her first No. 1 in 1996 with “Strawberry Wine.” She returned to the No. 1 spot the following year with “We Danced Anyway” and “How Do I Get There.” That same year, “Strawberry Wine” won both the Country Music Association song and single of the year awards. 08/29/01
