The Grand Ole Opry House is changing colors. The 4,400-seat venue, home to the Opry since 1974, will swap out the old orange trappings for a burgundy color scheme. Seating, flooring and entrance and exit curtains all are being redone in the new hue, and the main stage curtain — 121 feet wide and 68 feet tall — is being replaced. The new curtain rises Sept. 21, in time for the Opry’s 76th birthday celebration (Oct. 12-13) and The 35th Annual CMA Awards (Nov. 7). Pews will get new cushions and coverings, floor lighting has been installed in the aisles and new carpet has been laid.
