Hill, Chicks Slated for 'America: A Tribute to Heroes'

Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks will join dozens of other celebrities for America: A Tribute to Heroes, a live special to be simulcast at 9 p.m. ET Friday (Sept. 21). Emanating from New York and Los Angeles, the show will be carried by CMT, the four major networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox -- and any other TV or radio network which opts to air it. The two-hour, commercial-free program aims to lift the national spirit and raise donations for victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Other participating musicians include Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Will Smith, Alicia Keys, Tom Petty, Billy Joel and Bon Jovi. Actors appearing include Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Robin Williams. Additional stars will be announced. Production costs will be underwritten by the networks, and all celebrities are donating their time. The special will air live in the Eastern and Central time zones and tape-delayed in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. Viewers will be told during the program how to donate to the cause. 09/17/01
