Faith Hill Will Pay Tribute to Heroes

Faith Hill says America needs to remember those affected by the events of Sept. 11 and be strong for children in the face of the tragedy. Those messages are central to the country star’s participation Friday (Sept. 21) in America: A Tribute to Heroes. Hill will be among dozens of celebrities on the special program which benefits victims of the recent attacks. The program will be simulcast on CMT and other networks at 9 p.m. ET. “In the center of this devastation and this evil are the bright spirits of bravery, kindness and hope that we have to build on,” Hill said in a statement. “Those firefighters, policemen, the people who combed the streets looking for their loved ones, all the people whose lives were directly affected by this tragedy have shown … people everywhere the true essence of the human spirit.” Hill is a mother of two, expecting a third. “I’m concerned for our youth but determined to make it better for them,” she said. “While it’s easy to feel helpless and fearful, we all need to do our part in making their world a better place. … most important of all is the commitment that we owe to them, never to forget.” 09/20/01
