Monroe Book Honored

Richard Smith’s Can’t You Hear Me Callin’: The Life of Bill Monroe, The Father of Bluegrass won second place at the 12th annual Ralph J. Gleason Music Book Awards. Smith was awarded $1,500 at a reception at New York’s Sony Club on Friday (Sept. 21). Bing Crosby: A Pocketful of Dreams, The Early Years 1903-1940 by Gary Giddins took first place. 09/24/01
